In my opinion food has taken been a major focus this year. Though, sustainable and plant-based eating are front and center the question still remains: What are the basics of a healthy diet. Carbohydrates and fats which are found in a variety of foods are thought to be “bad” because they elevate blood sugar levels or cause weight gain. On the contrary, we do need certain amounts of carbohydrates and fats in the diet to help provide the body with energy and protect the vital organs (respectively). Since the holidays will be here in a blink of an eye I wanted to review the basic components of a healthy diet.
